According to a new research, it is easy to fight flab and to do so you only need to follow a simple mantra; venture out in the morning.

In a study published in the journal PLOS ONE, it was found that people with higher exposure to morning light had lower body mass index (BMI) which was completely independent of calories consumed.

Even though strange, the scientific study in support of the above link suggests that circadian rhythm plays an important role in metabolic regulation and at the same time it also states that exposure to morning light has an impact on hormone which regulate appetite and body fat.

In a study found that sleep derived humans having dearth of hormones like leptin and ghrelin saw an increase in their level after two hours of light exposure. Another study observed that obese women had reduced fat in 3 weeks after being exposed to morning sunlight for 45 minutes. In animals, this study revealed that change in light exposure had caused a weight gain for similar amounts of consumed calorie.

Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago conducted a study on 54 volunteers asking them to measure their light exposure with light meter wrist bands and to keep the track of their sleep patterns and food habits over seven days.

On analysis of data only one factor was found correlating BMI and mean light timing above threshold (MLiT), it was also suggested by researchers that the key is to bask in the light of at least 500 lux early in the day and each hour delay caused the BMI to rise by 1.28 points.
