Uganda has named one of the healthcare employees as ‘the killer nurse’, as she was purposely spreading HIV! Yes – insane as it may sound – according to people familiar with the matter, she injected her infected blood in 2-yr old patient, which shocked the whole nation!

The 64 years old nurse has been taken under custody for spreading such a violent disease. Rosemary Namubiru was charged on attempted murder and her bail request has been denied by the court. She is also charged under criminal negligence.

It’s been perceived that she pricked herself with the needle, which she was supposed to use on 2-year old patients. AIDS-Free World stated that nurse bandaged her finger and she used the same needle on the child. The mother of the toddler alarmed after report showed that the lady was HIV positive.

The nurse isn’t just dangerous to her child, but also to other patients, stated the AIDS-Free World. After conducting some tests, Namubiru was arrested and her bail was rejected, as prosecutors argued that the nurse was a threat to the public and she does not deserve bail at all.

If the nurse is proven guilty, she will have to suffer 7-years jail imprisonment; in fact, Namubiru would be the first Ugandan medical staff sentenced under colonial-era law for spreading disease and other negligent acts that spread infectious diseases like AIDS or HIV.

The attorneys stated that the 2-year old kid will be examined again for HIV virus and she will receive post-exposure treatment in a few days. This case has created uproar in the nation and would cause some serious ripples in various communities, if the nurse is charged guilty!

The AIDS-Free world stated – “this case illustrates the failure of both the media and the prosecutor’s office to act responsibly”. The organization stated that this is a serious crime as it was the nurse’s duty to protect the public from unsafe nursing practices, and just the reverse has actually happened!
