Back Pain

Paralysis can bring your life to a complete halt, but researchers are working on methods that can bring some radical change to this theory. As per the new research reported by life scientists from the University of Louisville, Kentucky and the University of California-Los Angeles both in the United States and the Pavlov Institute of Physiology in St. Petersburg, Russia they have seen some amazing results of their new spinal shock treatment.Back Pain The researchers claim that they researched on four paralyzed men who cannot move their legs voluntarily, but after the treatment they were able to move their feet voluntarily.

The study claims that the new shock treatment called epidural stimulation provides an electric current of varying frequency and intensity to specific parts of the lumbosacral spinal cord which is further connected to wide range of nerve fibers that control movements in ankles, hips, knees and toes. The scientists said that the new device that they have come up with sends electric current to lower spinal cord which are similar to signals that are transmitted by the brain.

The scientists also claim that this is a groundbreaking achievement and will provide a new outlook to resolve such cases in the future. The report also indicates that one of the participants has recovered well and has recover a number of motor functions like standing up on his own and moving his legs voluntarily. The study report also claims that all the participants were able to move their legs voluntarily soon after they received stimulator implant.
