Green Tea May Impacts Brain’s Cognitive Functions

We all know the health benefits of green tea, but a new study has now revealed that green tea can also boost the memory power. The new research claims that green tea impacts brain’s cognitive functions offering better memory and better brain power. Green TeaThe research team includes Professor Christoph Beglinger and Professor Stefan Borgwardt of the University Hospital of Basel in Switzerland. The research claims that green tea was effective in resolving various problems related to neuropsychiatric disorders like dementia. The study has been published in the journal Psychopharmacology.

The study claims that the green tea is different from the regular teas because it is made from unoxidized leaves. The tea is more popular and native to China and India. Green tea goes through minimal processing and therefore it is rich in antioxidants that can help the body and brain as well. In another report Medical News Today said that as per their study green tea is also good for heart and it reduces the risk of stroke and in another study it was found that it also fights prostate cancer.

For the study, researchers chose 12 males volunteers of 24 years. One group was provided green tea while the other group was provided with soft drink without the green tea extract. The participants were then asked to carry out certain activities that would focus on memory tasks. The researchers found that green tea actually increases the connectivity between frontal and parietal brain regions that boost memory performance and brain’s cognitive functions.
