Wal-Mart Recalls Dolls over Burn Hazards

Wal-Mart  is recalling around 174,000 of its My Sweet Love/ My Sweet Baby Cuddle Care Baby Dolls. This was because the chest of the doll was overheating and could be a potential burn hazard. The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission said Tuesday that the “My Sweet Love / My Sweet Baby Cuddle Care Baby Doll” has a circuit board in its chest that can overheat, causing the surface of the doll to get hot and burn someone.

Wal-Mart had received 12 incident reports wherein two were burnt o had blisters on their thumbs. Consumers are requested to stop using the doll with immediate effect and they should even go ahead and removed the batteries from it. You can go to the Wal-Mart  store that you bought it from and return it and get a refund. You can even get in touch with Wal-Mart at 1-800-925-6278.

Manufactured by Tak Ngai Electronic Toys Co. of China, this baby doll was meant for exclusive sale at all Wal-Mart stores for $20. It was supposed to be available in stores from 2012 to 2014. It can be identified by UPC 6-04576-16800-5 and a date code, found on a label sewn to the bottom of the doll, which begins with WM. The sixteen-inch doll come is a cute pink overall and a matching pink cap. It was packaged with a toy medical kit, which includes a stethoscope. The doll coughs and babbles when ‘sick’ and her cheeks even turn red. You can use the toy medical kit to ‘help her get better’.

Wal-Mart has other dolls that are manufactured by the same company in China. “We haven’t discussed future business with the supplier, but they have been extremely cooperative in this entire process,” said Wal-Mart spokeswoman Dianna Gee.
